About Us
A House Call Vet is Proudly a Woman-Owned & Operated Small Business
Dr. Stefanie Lipton (D.V.M.)
Dr. Lipton is a caring and devoted veterinarian whose skills are indicative of her decades of experience. She has committed herself to fostering trust and providing the best possible care for her patients. Dr. Lipton received advanced training with dogs, cats, and exotic animals while studying at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Florida where she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) in 1995. She also received her Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University and a Master of Science degree in Psychology with a focus on Animal Behavior from Bucknell University.
Dr. Lipton’s decision to shift to a house-call-based practice stemmed from her love for animals, as well as her years of experience working in animal hospitals and seeing firsthand the stress and anxiety that her patients and their families experienced. House calls gave her the opportunity to prioritize comfort, convenience, and ease for her patients while providing necessary, superior, and personalized care. Dr. Lipton founded A House Call Vet in 1997 and has been treating her patients in the comfort of their own homes ever since.

Dr. Lipton specializes in Eastern medicine for pets and utilizes acupuncture and herbal medicine in her practice in conjunction with modern Western medicine. Although acupuncture has many uses and benefits and can be used to treat a wide variety of ailments, Dr. Lipton has seen particular success in treating patients with conditions such as arthritis, paralysis, and disc disease. It is her belief that utilizing both Eastern and Western medicine is crucial to providing comprehensive and holistic treatment to her patients. Dr. Lipton was trained in small, large, and exotic animal acupuncture and is a 2001 graduate of the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society.
Dr. Lipton also specializes in hospice services and gentle, humane euthanasia. It is her belief that this aspect of practicing medicine is the most important, as it is an opportunity to provide relief to her patients when they need it most. Dr. Lipton also provides counseling to pet parents on the signs to consider when determining the right time to euthanize.
When she’s not caring for her patients, Dr. Lipton enjoys spending time with her family, working with pottery, and taking very long walks with her rescue Golden Retriever, Tenney.
Our Mission
At A House Call Vet, providing at-home veterinary services is our specialty. We understand that your life is busy and your time is valuable, which is why we’ve simplified the process and taken the stress out of finding the right mobile veterinary services for you.
When comparing home veterinary services vs. veterinary hospital services, we believe that veterinary care done in the comfort of your own home is not only more convenient, but more personal as well. It is important to establish a bond of trust and familiarity with animals in order to easily treat and care for them. By limiting the amount of foreign stimuli your pet takes in, the less likely they are to reject treatment in the future.
In addition to being overstimulating, animal clinics also often encounter scheduling difficulties, making it difficult for pet owners with multiple pets to make arrangements and organize their appointments for the same time. This means more time taken out of your busy week, more stress for your pets, and more inconvenience for you. Although animal hospitals and pet wellness clinics can be helpful when it comes to providing medical diagnostic imaging, such as ultrasounds, X-Rays, MRIs, etc., we find that pet wellness exams and providing sick pet care can be done entirely at home without introducing unnecessary anxiety and stress. Animals tend to feel scared and act out when in unfamiliar environments, leading to incomplete exams that can result in inaccurate or missed diagnoses.

Our personal treatment model also means that we are able to give you and your pet our undivided attention for comprehensive and unrushed consultations. Veterinary house calls are not one-size-fits-all; your pet’s exam and any treatments they need are entirely tailored to them. We believe that providing access to holistic veterinarians and treatment that is customized to your pet’s needs is paramount.
We do this by utilizing three supplemental and crucial domains of treatment: Nutrition, Behavioral Analysis, and Eastern Medicine. Nutrition is the foundation of your pet’s health, and by providing them with a healthy and balanced diet, you can give your pet the best chance of living a long, happy, and healthy life. In addition to this, we also use our knowledge and expertise in animal psychology and animal behavioral analysis to assist our clients in identifying, understanding, and making the changes needed to their pet’s environment in order to benefit their pet’s well-being. Although most pets will make notable improvements based on healthy changes to their diet and environment, sometimes additional treatments are necessary, especially with regard to pain and nausea management. By utilizing Eastern medicinal practices such as acupuncture as a supplement to Western and modern medicine, we are able to provide additional holistic and beneficial care to your pet.
